A young cyclist narrowly escaped a train on Sunday evening when he crossed the road on his bicycle at a railway crossing in Rijen. The barriers were already down by then.
He was able to jump off his bicycle just in front of the approaching train. The boy suffered minor injuries. He has been taken to a hospital. The bike was badly damaged.
Train traffic blocked
Due to the collision, there was no train traffic between Tilburg and Breda for an hour.
It is not clear what possessed the boy to cross just before the train.
