Young, criminal and Brabant: what’s going wrong?

Fewer and fewer offenses and fewer and fewer offenders: almost all figures for juvenile delinquency have been declining steadily for years. There is, however, nothing to cheer about. The cases of juvenile delinquency that do still occur are a growing concern. The trends are: ever younger, increasingly violent and increasingly violent. And very often in Brabant.

In the coming year, the government will distribute tens of millions of euros to combat youth crime in neighborhoods where it is a major problem.

Of the fifteen municipalities selected for this, no fewer than three are located in the province of Brabant. Eindhoven, Tilburg and Breda must come up with a plan before the turn of the year to better tackle youth crime in their problem neighbourhoods.

In the coming months we will dive together with Spot on Stories, De Balie, AT5 and Omroep West in the world of juvenile crime. Together we investigate what goes wrong, but also what goes right.

We need your help. Where in Brabant is youth crime a problem? Where are good initiatives to do something about this? What should we pay attention to? What should we pay attention to? And what should we research? Do you have ideas, mail to [email protected] and we’re going to work on it.
