Young AZ cannot help Telstar and loses to De Graafschap

The reserves of Young AZ lost 1-0 to De Graafschap in Wijdewormer tonight. With this, the team of trainer Maarten Martens did itself and Telstar a disservice. The Superboeren climb to tenth place in the ranking of the first division and, just behind Telstar, are emphatically involved in the battle for participation in the play-offs.

Martens started the match with Mayckel Lahdo, Mexx Meerdink and Myron van Brederode, who all made minutes with the first team on Saturday evening. Wouter Goes, Zico Buurmeester and Yusuf Barasi were also at the kick-off. Nevertheless, Young AZ fell behind shortly before the break after the ball hit the spot for a handball. Alexander Büttner converted the penalty.

In the second half there were opportunities for the home team for Lahdo and Meerdink. Zico Buurmeester hit the post. Young AZ did not score a goal, which means that the team slides further down the rankings. Young AZ, which took three points from the last six games, is now thirteenth.

Young Ajax beats Dordrecht

In Amsterdam, Jong Ajax defeated FC Dordrecht 4-1. After a tame opening phase, Silvano Vos suddenly hit from a distance in the 21st minute. Fifteen minutes later, Dordrecht equalized unexpectedly: Tdijany Touré, hired from Feyenoord, passed goalkeeper Tom de Graaff. The Sheep Heads could not enjoy the lead for a long time, as Diyae Jermoumi scored the halftime score at 2-1 with his first goal in professional football in the 40th minute.

After the break, the game remained exciting for a long time, because the margin was only one goal. In the final phase, Jong Ajax struck twice effectively. First Oliver Aertssen shot the ball hard and clear past goalkeeper Liam Bossin. In injury time, Vos put the final score on the scoreboard with his second goal of the evening: 4-1. Young Ajax occupies sixteenth place in the first division with 34 points.

Young Ajax line-up: DeGraff; Jermoumi, Aertssen, Warmerdam, Gooijer (Idumbo Muzambo/63); Vos, Hlynsson, Fitz-Jim, Martha, Banel, Van Axel Dongen (Delgado/77)

Period title Almere City FC

Almere City FC booked a difficult victory over Jong FC Utrecht (1-0) and therefore wins the third period title. The team of trainer Alex Pastoor finishes one point above PEC Zwolle (which has already had a period) and NAC Breda.

If Telstar wants to qualify for the play-offs, the team of coach Mike Snoei must pass at least one team in the ranking. The difference with NAC Breda is three points; FC Eindhoven and MVV Maastricht have four points more. De Graafschap and ADO Den Haag are breathing down the neck of the people of Velsen and have one point less than Telstar.

Next Friday, Telstar will play at home against Jong Ajax. You can follow that match live on NH Radio.
