Young Ajax draws the short straw in a duel with De Graafschap

In the first home match of the season, Jong Ajax lost 2-1 to De Graafschap. The only goal from Amsterdam was made by Kristian Hlynsson. The Icelander got some playing minutes in Ajax 1 last Saturday.

Young Ajax fell behind early in the game. In the sixth minute it was Basar Onal who scored within sixteen for the team from Doetinchem. Halfway through the first half things started to improve at Ajax, which resulted in a few opportunities. Nevertheless, coach Dave Vos’ team did not score in the first half.

Maurice Steijn was also present at Sportpark De Toekomst with his technical staff. He saw that both teams had chances in the second half. It was De Graafschap with the second goal of the evening. Via a counter it was David Flakus Bosilj who made it 0-2 in the 59th minute.

In the closing stages of the game, Kristian Hlynsson brought the tension back into the game. Face to face with keeper Mees Bakker, Hlynsson remained cool and scored the tying goal. After that, Ajax was no longer dangerous and De Graafschap went back to Doetinchem with three points.

Due to the defeat, Jong Ajax is at the bottom of the first division with zero points from two matches.
