You shouldn’t feel guilty if you call in sick at work | Statement of the day

Research by HR service provider SD Worx shows that 39 percent of Dutch employees feel guilty after reporting sick. Justifiably? Or shouldn’t that be the case?

The three most common reasons for reporting sick are flu and fever (70 percent), physical injury (58 percent) and cold with fever (45 percent). Pretty good reasons not to work for a while. Yet 39 percent of Dutch employees struggle with feelings of guilt after reporting sick. Busyness at work is the main reason for this. Staff shortages follow in second place and the third reason is the inability to transfer activities.

What do you think? Is it logical that an employee feels guilty if he calls in sick? Or should that never cause guilt?
