You can vote for these Brabanders in the House of Representatives elections

The House of Representatives elections on Wednesday, November 22, are extra exciting for 121 Brabanders. They are on the candidate list of a party and have a chance of winning a seat in Parliament.

Omroep Brabant delved into the candidate lists of all political parties participating in the elections for the House of Representatives. This looked at the place of residence and also at candidates who no longer live here, but who have a connection with the province.

The second category has nineteen people, including:

  • Minister of Education Mariëlle Paul (VVD), born in Geldrop.
  • party leader Rob Jetten of D66, born in Veghel.
  • party leader Laurens Dassen van Volt, born in Eindhoven and lived in Knegsel for a long time.
  • Member of Parliament Jesse Klaver (GroenLinks-PvdA), born in Roosendaal.

On this map you can see which candidate MPs come from your municipality and from which municipalities the most names are on the lists:

Not all parties have the same number of Brabanders on the list.

The overview below shows how many there are per batch:

Of course, just because someone is on the list does not mean that that person will actually get a seat. These parties put Brabanders in the top 10:

  • 50PLUS: 6
  • Volt and PartyvdSport: 4
  • D66, SP and Political Party for Basic Income: 3
  • GroenLinks-PvdA and VVD: 2
  • BVNL, PVV, CDA and Party for the Animals: 1

Enough Brabanders to vote for, but many of them will have to get a lot of preferential votes to get into the House of Representatives.

Looking at the latest polls, only a handful of Brabanders have a chance of getting a seat. For example, almost certain of a seat are:

  • Jan Paternotte (D66), born in Den Bosch.
  • Esmah Lahlah (GroenLinks-PvdA), councilor in Tilburg.
  • Lilian Marijnissen (SP), born in Oss.
  • Ruben Brekelmans (VVD), grew up in Kaatsheuvel and studied in Tilburg.

For these candidates it remains exciting until the end:

  • 50PLUS party leader Gerard van Hooft, born in Oisterwijk.
  • Henk Krol, number 2 of BVNL, born in Tilburg.
