As an interpreter of the Ukraine war, Victoria Koblenko has been popping up on talk shows for quite some time now, but apparently she knows a lot more about things. She is currently on holiday in the Turkish resort of Marmaris and she is giving sunscreen advice through her from there stories on Instagram.

Less sunscreen

Victoria says she’s trying to use less sunscreen these days. “SPF and progressive insight… I do indeed use products that clean but I don’t use it all over my body anymore, but I definitely still use it on my face and neck to prevent long-term sun damage.”

Just the neck and face? No, also a few other places where her skin is thin, to prevent them from tanning faster than the rest. “Not only for baby’s skin, but also for my knees, elbows and other areas to get an even tan.”

“I take off sunglasses”

So how does Victoria avoid getting burned in the other places? “If you don’t wear sunglasses, your brain receives a signal that there is bright sun and you should burn less quickly. The best protector is nevertheless ultimately gradually tanned skin during off-peak hours. If I have to sit in the sun in the heat of the day, I will of course use sunscreen.”

What nonsense this woman is selling, says science journalist Adriaan ter Braack Twitter known as the ‘holistic wrecking ball’ Sjamadriaan. “Victoria Koblenko: ‘Without sunglasses you burn less quickly and the best protection is to let your skin get used to the sun’. Give this woman a bigger stage.”

“On a talk show!”

It wouldn’t surprise columnist Hester Zitvast if we hear Victoria about this in a talk show today or tomorrow. “Sounds like an incredibly interesting and science-savvy woman. Would like to see and hear her as an expert on a prime time talk show,” she jokes.

According to Adriaan, Victoria also shared a message that is ‘downright anti-sunburn’, namely a reference to ‘one of my favorite accounts to follow about healthier choices. caption + slides’. This is also full of posts who are negative about using sunscreen.

Victoria responds

The commotion has not gone unnoticed by Victoria. She responds: “People who don’t follow me and now come to swear on Twitter… It’s good for you to know that twenty years ago I did a government campaign to get people to use sunscreen, when it wasn’t ‘normal’ yet and when we didn’t know that there are harmful substances in some sunscreen.”

She continues: “Stayed completely out of the sun for 6 years to prevent sun damage. And anyway it would make a difference if you also saw the pictures. I show two products of factor 50 and mention that it is better to get out in the sun during off-peak hours. But some of you really want to see/read something else.”

Recently, Victoria was also under fire for claiming on national television that receipts are toxic.
