The building is currently being renovated and the new store will most likely open before the end of this year. A Geldmaat store will be built at the location next to Hunkemöller.
Little space in big cities
This brand new business is the thirteenth ATM shop in the Netherlands. There will be seven ATMs in the building where you can withdraw and deposit money. According to a spokesperson for Geldmaat, there is a shortage of ATMs in the Stadshart. “Because there are few suitable locations for installing a machine, there will be a large building with several Geldmaats. We do this more often in larger cities, such as Amsterdam and Rotterdam, because there is not enough space for one or a few outdoor vending machines.”

Inside feels safer
According to Geldmaat, there is a great need for debit card payments. “There are no more ATMs in bank branches. And not everyone has a vending machine available in the area,” the spokesperson explains. “Sometimes a vending machine is empty, or it is very busy. Some people prefer to pin indoors so that they are dry or because of a safer feeling.”
The exact date of the opening of the Geldmaat store is not yet known and we will only know at the very last moment. This is because the seven machines have to be filled with banknotes. For security reasons, Geldmaat does not want to say anything about the opening date, as that information can sometimes lead to nefarious plans. We will keep you informed!
