Yoni Gloudemans from Rosmalen filmed the mad ride of a van through residential area De Groote Wielen on Saturday with the dashcams in his Tesla. He had just gotten into the car to take his kids to a hockey tournament when he saw him driving. Shortly after, the van slammed into the back of his car.
Still a little dazed, Yoni walks to the corner of the street. “I turned the corner here with my car and saw a van coming hard and lurching. I pulled over and stopped, but it took the corner too tight and hit the back of my car.”
The van drove on and so Yoni went after it. “I had damage, so I wanted a form to be filled in. I tried to block the road with my car. But when I saw that he was coming so fast and swinging again, I just pulled over.”
“He seemed to be completely tripping and spinning behind the wheel.”
The van then drove into another part of the neighborhood. Yoni decided to follow him from a distance. Because Yoni’s Tesla is equipped with four cameras, the mad ride is recorded.
“I called the police on the way and noted the license plate. And I started honking. To warn people on the street and in the hope that the van would stop. But it didn’t. It drove like crazy, so I lost it I didn’t know what he would be capable of either, maybe he’d reverse that bus or get out.”
The driver of the van appeared to be heavily intoxicated, according to Yoni. “He seemed to be tripping all over and spinning behind the wheel. That was really not good.”
“I’m still pretty good at it.”
With a heavy heart, Yoni shows the damage to his Tesla. “In any case, I have significant damage to the fender and bumper. I don’t know yet what might be going on internally. The rim is also damaged. It’s not nothing.”
But Yoni also quickly puts it into perspective. “When I see what else he has done during his mad ride, I actually did quite well.”
