The Shownieuws camera has captured a very special get-together, namely that between Jan Smit and Wesley Sneijder. “This is a unique shot, isn’t it? Everything is gone, everything!”
On Wednesday evening it was teeming with celebrities in Uden in Brabant, the birthplace of fashion designer Addy van den Krommenacker. That’s where the recordings of Muziekfeest op het Plein took place, the program in which a frenzied crowd of uncoordinated compatriots sing along to Dutch songs.
Yolanthe’s transfer
Wesley Sneijder is now also served to that crowd, because he has started working as a folk singer despite his football millions. He has recorded a song with Andy van der Meijde and Wilfred Genee. And who do you inevitably run into at an AvroTros musical party? Of course, Jan Smith.
And so it happened that Jan and Wesley ran into each other in Uden. Quite good for juice lovers, of course juicybecause Jan and Wesley share a special history with each other: while Jan was busy making Yolanthe Cabau a fisher girl in 2009, she unexpectedly made a transfer to Wesley’s balls.

News of the transfer came from Albert Verlinde, who had bought revealing security footage from some shady garage owner. It showed how Yolanthe and Wesley exchanged hot saliva. In no time Jan’s mother was moaning in Shownieuws that ‘Yo’ would have run off with the bedding and the vacuum cleaner bags.
And now, fourteen years later, Jan and Wesley have been spotted during a get-together in Uden. Is the division of the household effects still not complete? Or has the hatchet been buried and were they just chatting about small talk?
‘Little moment’
Tooske Ragas, the presenter of Shownieuws, speaks yesterday’s broadcast of a ‘quite special little moment’. Colleague Bart Ettekoven agrees: “Yes. We were interviewing Wilfred and Andy and then our eye caught the background, because that’s where Jan Smit and Wesley Sneijder were chatting with each other.”
He continues: “And of course they have a past, remember? 2009, Jan had with Yolanthe and suddenly Yolanthe was spotted kissing in a parking garage with Wesley, so there was some kind of friction between the two. And then this happened.”
“Unique shot, huh?”
The images from Shownieuws show that it is not the reporter on duty, but Wilfred Genee who points to the get-together. He tips the journalist: “This is a unique shot, isn’t it? Wesley and Jan Smit together.”
Then Andy starts talking about Jan’s mother’s famous diatribe. “Dishcloths and cutlery and stuff!”
Wilfred: “Everything gone!”
Andy: “No toilet paper too!”
Anouk Smulders in the studio afterwards: “Really, that will never pass…”
