Yle’s online services were hit by a denial-of-service attack yesterday Tuesday.

Tuesday 4.4. denial-of-service attacks were targeted at the websites of Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) and the Parliament. Yleisradio informs that it was also a victim of an attack.
The denial of service attack happened in the afternoon. Yle says that it was able to limit the effects of the attack, which is why it was not visible to users of the services.
– Yle is a company critical to reliability of supply and we have an obligation to ensure that our services work. That’s why we’re prepared for this type of situation, CTO Janne Yli-Äyhö says in the announcement.
– We were able to react quickly and our experts were able to minimize the effects of the denial of service attack.
Yli-Äyhö cannot say whether the attack on Yli was connected to other attacks on the same day.
– It’s just a guess whether the attack against Yle is related to these, but it does coincide in time.
