The roundabout made in honor of Perho’s hero had a hard time. A local ruffian who ran into it hurt himself.
The roundabout built in honor of the Olympic champion of ball throwing, Arsi Harju, had a hard time at the home of the ball mortar in Perho.
In honor of Harju, who won 2,000 Olympic gold medals in Sydney, a building was built in the center of the municipality of Perho in central Pohlia at the beginning of the millennium Arsi ring -roundabout.
Its diameter is the size of a gold bullion, i.e. 21 meters and 29 centimeters. Inside the ring is an iron ball representing a ball, the diameter of which is the length of Harju (183 centimeters).
During the Midsummer weekend, many people from Perho would rub their eyes in horror during their shopping trip. The ball had moved and the ring was clearly damaged.

The roundabout located along Highway 13 is the first to greet those approaching the center of Perho from Kokkola.
At the traffic circle, the speed limit is 40 kilometers per hour. A moment earlier, however, the speed limit is 100 km/h. It is not unusual for the locals to see many rally heroes of their own life trying to solve the speeding circle.
The chairman of the Perho municipal board Matti Louhula says that the accident happened on the night between Thursday and Friday. It wasn’t vandalism, but a road traffic accident. The reason has been the too great speed of the situation.
– A local guy hit it with a car. The pace must have been fast. Eyewitnesses said that the car got on top of the ball and rolled onto its roof, Louhula says.
The driver injured himself relatively badly in the situation. Even though the damage to the artwork made in honor of Perho’s great hero is sad, Louhula’s overriding emotion is concern for the injured person’s health.
– My sympathies are with him and his parents.
Louhula annoys the heavy gas pedals of the local youth.
– It has long been feared that something like this would happen again.
A bully doesn’t make friends
Although the situation is most obviously an accident, the accident still raises questions.
– Yes, every resident of Perho knows that there is a roundabout and Ars rink at that point. Even in pitch black, Louhula describes.
According to Louhula, the giant ball is solidly bolted into place. Its movement from place to place speaks of the ferocious speed of the situation.
A self-inflicted prankster does not make friends in a small municipality.
– Yes, Arsi’s monument has been desecrated here. Even though it was an accident, Louhula sighs.
Quickly in place
The ball has been resting in its current location since the accident. According to Louhula, putting it back in its right place is the task of the Ely center.
– This is an important monument for Perhola people. After all, Perho is known for Ars. You can’t leave it like that for a long time, Louhula puts pressure in Ely’s direction.
