Yellow for Lampert! † Focus and WTV

Wout Van Aert looked quite sad when he saw that Yves Lampaert dived five seconds under his time. The rider of Quick.Step-Alpha Vinyl needed 15 minutes and 17 seconds for the 13.2 kilometers. Faster than Van Aert, faster than Pogacar and faster than Ganna, unlikely.

“There will be one more time to improve my time,” said Lampaert immediately after his finish. “I constantly see myself that I had to go faster in the corners. I really thought I was losing a few seconds there.” Not so, because despite the fact that the course in the Danish capital was becoming drier, nobody managed to improve Lampaert’s time.

And so Yves not only wins the time trial, but also takes the yellow and green jersey. A man would let the tears run wild for less. “Unbelievable when you see who I beat here. And it was just as wet for me, as for the top players. This is one for my family, my team, and for Tim Declercq. I would have liked to celebrate this with my best friend, But unfortunately that’s not possible now.” Declercq was in the selection of Quick.Step-Alpha Vinyl, but had to stay home after a positive corona test.

Tomorrow Lampaert will defend his jerseys in the first stage in line between Roskilde and Nyborg.
