The trotting season has started again. On Sunday, ten races were held in Alkmaar trotting center. “It was a great day after all. I hope that the revival of trotting and racing will start here. Because of corona, everything came to a standstill from one day to the next,” says track speaker Rogier den Dekker.
Stole The Yellow Canaries
Rogier den Dekker has been a track speaker by profession for almost thirty years. New this trotting season is Stal De Gele Canaries. “With 140 owners who pay 100 euros a month, we have now bought eighteen horses. That should be twenty,” says initiator Peter Delis.
The aim of Stal De Gele Kanaries is to get more race horses in the Netherlands. Delis also hopes to introduce people to equestrian sport in an accessible way. “Training a horse quickly costs a thousand euros per month. If you have one horse with ten people, you are done with one hundred euros and you have ten times as much fun,” says Delis.
To make money?
So you become a shareholder mainly for the experience and hobby. You should not have the illusion of getting rich from it. “If you think in money, I can spare you any illusion. When you think in emotion, it’s great fun to see your horse win,” says Delis.
