Rapper Lil Uzi Vert is a featured guest on the ballad. Listen in here.
To commemorate the fifth anniversary of XXXTentacion’s death, his estate on Sunday (June 18) released the song “I’m Not Human”, written in collaboration with Lil Uzi Vert. The track was teased and leaked on the internet on the late rapper’s birthday back in January.
“I’m Not Human” is a ballad – acoustic guitars accompany the voices of the two rappers, who sing rather than rap on the song. John Cunningham, who produced for XXXTentacion for a long time, released a release statement. “The day he first sang ‘I’m Not Human’ while I played the guitar part, we both had to smile because we knew how special it was,” it reads. “We then listened to the recording of his voice and talked about finishing the song, but when we tried to record the feeling wasn’t the same anymore. He always preferred the original recording, which is why we used it for the official version of the song.”
Two posthumous albums have already been released in XXXTentacion’s name. In 2018 SKINS was released, in 2019 BAD VIBES FOREVER. His old collective, Members Only, brought some unreleased verses from “X” to their album MEMBERS ONLY, VOL. 4, out.
