Barcelona coach Xavi recently announced that he will be leaving the club in the summer. It is not yet clear who will be his successor. However, the search is in full swing. One of the candidates from the closest circle is said to be Hansi Flick, as Spanish media consistently reported. And Barça is probably intensifying its efforts to recruit the former national coach.
As “Bild” reports, FC Barcelona’s sports director is said to have contacted Flick on behalf of President Joan Laporta. According to the newspaper, those responsible at the club want to show Flick that he is on the list. Flick was apparently on vacation in Spain at the time of contact.
Flick is said to already have squad ideas
The portal “El Nacional” recently wrote that Flick already had concrete ideas for a possible Catalan squad. Accordingly, he wants to lure Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sané to Spain if a coaching engagement comes about.
However, Sané recently made it clear that there are positive signals regarding a contract extension at FC Bayern. “We are on a very, very good path,” he said. Therefore, a move from him to FC Barcelona seems unlikely.
It is not clear whether Kimmich can imagine a change. According to “Bild”, he was not always happy with his situation. Against Bremen (0-1) he was substituted after 64 minutes and said: “Of course I always want to be on the pitch for 90 minutes.”
