FC Bayern probably turned down a transfer from Ronald Araújo to FC Barcelona in January. Head coach Xavi is said to have even threatened to resign from the Spanish champions at the time.
Ronald Araújo is reportedly high on the transfer list at FC Bayern. However, a commitment made last January could not be realized.
As “Sport Bild” reports, coach Xavi at FC Barcelona is said to have threatened to resign in the event of Araújo being sold. As is well known, the Catalans kept the central defender in their own ranks. According to the sports newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, FC Bayern rejected offers for Araújo twice in the winter.
In the summer, however, the personnel could become exciting again. Xavi is leaving FC Barcelona at the end of the season. Due to the impending coaching change, there could also be movement within the Kadar.
Araújo poker: FC Bayern’s new attempt?
According to “Sport Bild”, Araújo is “the primary target for central defense” at FC Bayern. The people of Munich are said to be impressed by the 25-year-old. The German record champions are apparently hoping that Barca will change their attitude towards Araújo due to Xavi’s departure.
The player himself was “not averse” when it came to a possible move to FC Bayern in the winter, the media report continues.
Araújo is said to have an exit clause at FC Barcelona in the high double-digit million range. The Munich team would have to shell out almost 100 million euros for the defender, according to “Sport Bild”.
FC Bayern currently has four prominent central defenders in their ranks: Matthijs de Ligt, Dayot Upamecano, Minjae Kim and Eric Dier. Upamecano is said to be “up for discussion” at FC Bayern. The Frenchman (contract until 2026) recently emphasized that he would like to continue in Munich.
