Xandro Meurisse from Zwevegem finishes second in the final stage of the Ronde van de Sarthe

Xandro Meurisse, together with the Dutch winner Olav Kooij, was the only one to escape after a crash 4 kilometers from the finish. The race in La Chapelle-Saint-Aubin was shortened by about 40 kilometers due to the rain. Many riders gave up before the start, including Filippo Ganna with illness. Our compatriot Lawrence Naesen also stopped running. On the way, more than 25 riders squeezed the brakes.

Olav Kooij and Xandro Meurisse were able to sprint for victory, it was the fast Kooij who booked his second stage victory of this week in France. Yves Lampaert finished sixth. Leader Mads Pedersen got involved in the crash, losing five minutes and as the fall was before the 3km mark, the clock was ticking. Kooij also assured himself of a final win.
