Xander Topma from Meppel and Simon Zandvliet from Beilen were definitively placed on the electoral list for the House of Representatives elections in November during the SP congress today.
Topma, who is now party leader of the SP in the municipal council in Meppel, is in place 22. Staten faction leader Zandvliet finds himself in place 37.
Both candidates believe that The Hague pays too much attention to the big cities. “Drenthe deserves that a careful look is taken at what is needed there. Consider a better train connection through expansion at Meppel station, so that the rest of the north becomes more accessible,” says Topma.
The SP list is headed by Lilian Marijnissen. Sandra Beckerman from Groningen is in second place, followed by Bart van Kent.
In a last Ipsos poll on September 7, SP had three seats. The party now has nine seats in the House of Representatives.
