The beginnings of the interdisciplinary arts were directly conditioned by technology, perceived and assessed differently. Digital means of processing were found that were considered unthinkable just a few years ago – in the meantime, this text could well have been written by an artificial intelligence.
This topic is presented by 19 to 24 March around 60 European students and young professionals from the areas Research, media, culture, sound and event technology at the Technical University of Lübeck: The one funded with European funds Project X ARTS engages with issues such as Artificial intelligence, immersive media as well as the combination of the classical arts with the most modern technology. Specially aimed at young professionals and students, the specialist lectures and interactive workshops at the international training event help the participants from Denmark, the Netherlands, Denmark, France and Germany to develop multi- and cross-media:
I am really looking forward to welcoming the international colleagues from Denmark, the Netherlands and France to TH Lübeck. Together we want to pass on our enthusiasm for immersive media to young artists and students and help them to express themselves creatively and technically, to market themselves professionally and to make optimal use of current and future media opportunities on the market,” says Prof. Dr. Isabella Beyer, who heads the ERASMUS+ project X-ARTS at the TH Lübeck.
All events will be held in English. Speakers are lecturers from the (music) universities involved in the project – the Syddansk Music Conservatory, the Hanzehogeschool Groningen, the Institute Musical de Formation Professional and the Technical University of Lübeck. But experts from the field also give an insight into everyday work with immersive and experimental media. The participants can be inspired by presentations that combine artificial intelligence, art and culture and include different combinations of perception, opportunities for self-expression and artist rights.

X ARTS | about the project
Since March 2022, participating educational institutions and event organizers have been developing the European education project TEDMA under the leadership of the Neue Musik-Impulse Foundation. After preparing a training concept, which was presented during the “INTERSECTIONS” kick-off event in Groningen, the specialist topics of the concept will be discussed during the X-ARTS workshops from 19.-24. March under the direction of Prof. Dr. Isabella Beyer filled with life.
The possibilities of combining technology and art – connecting classic art immersively, visually or by incorporating electronics – allow both the viewer and the performing artist to have more (perceptual) possibilities in the presentation of their art. In addition to expanding the arts, the techniques offer easier access to art, strengthen independent learning or can reveal talents. Does the relevance of human interaction – the social component – persist in the occurrence and creation of altered perceptions of the arts?
The academy of the Neue Musik-Impulse Foundation is setting new impulses with The European Digital Music Academy and would like to develop a recommendation for the future relevance and inclusion of digital arts for training purposes with the Academy. It is already certain that the contents of the results will be able to be experienced in a large 360° cathedral during the CLASSICAL BEAT Festival during the Travemünde Week.
