Writer Viktor Shenderovich recognized as a foreign agent announced his intention to leave Russia

According to him, the decision is connected with the threatening criminal libel case at the suit of Yevgeny Prigozhin.

Writer, publicist, poet and playwright Viktor Shenderovich (recognized as a media foreign agent) announced that he decided to leave Russia.

“I made the decision to wait outside,” he wrote on his Facebook. Shenderovich did not specify exactly where he would go. As the reason for his departure, the writer named the impending criminal case at the suit of businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin, whose conviction Shenderovich announced on the air of Echo of Moscow.

After the words of the writer, Prigozhin filed a lawsuit for the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation, as well as compensation for moral damage against Shenderovich, Echo of Moscow and its editor-in-chief Alexei Venediktov. The businessman demanded to remove information from public access, refute it and recover compensation from Shenderovich and the founders of Ekho Moskvy – 5 million rubles each.

On December 24, the Primorsky District Court of St. Petersburg recovered 1 million rubles from the radio station in favor of Prigozhin, and 100 thousand rubles from Shenderovich. Venediktov told RBC about his intention to appeal the decision.
