Writer Martin Amis (73) passed away

Writer Martin Amis has died at the age of 73 in his hometown of Lake Worth in Florida (US). That already happened on Friday, reports The New York Times. According to the newspaper, his wife, author Isabel Fonseca, confirmed that he died of esophageal cancer.

Originally British, Amis became known for his second novel, Dead Babies from 1975. He was part of the Angry Young Men, a group of British writers in the 1950s who opposed the established order. Martin Amis’ father Kingsley Amis also belonged to that group.

Many novels by Martin Amis have also been translated into Dutch, such as Money (1984), The Arrow of Time (1991), Nachthuis (2006) and Interest Area (2014) and Uit de Eerste Hand (2020).
