No video call function on Apple Watches
The Apple Watch offers its users a number of advantages. It has various health and fitness functions, such as heart rate measurement, a blood oxygen app and a pedometer. In addition, the Apple Watch is easy to communicate with others using, for example, the Walkie-Talkie app or simple SMS and calls. One feature that has been missing so far, however, is video chat.
Wristcam equips Apple Watch with cameras
A US company can help here. Because the wristcam from the company of the same name is an Apple Watch bracelet that equips the watch with two cameras. It is an eight-megapixel camera and a two-megapixel selfie camera. The bracelet can be connected to the respective Apple Watch via WiFi or Bluetooth. The Wristcam enables hands-free recording and video calling from watch to watch or watch to iPhone. However, these are not FaceTime calls or other native features, MacRumors explains. To join the video call, both parties must be using the Wristcam app.
Bulky but practical
According to MacRumors, they were able to test the Wristcam Apple Watch strap last year. Overall, it was found that the wristcam was quite bulky for an Apple Watch bracelet. However, it can also come in handy when you need a hands-free camera option. According to the company’s store website, the wristcam starts at $299. The original edition comes in black and gray, while the limited edition is available in sage color for $399.
