WPG wants to focus on publishing books, audiobooks and podcasts. This means that all magazines will be divested. The educational publisher Zwijsen is also being sold. WPG publishes Psychologie Magazine, Happinez and Vrij Nederland.
WPG Publishers wants to continue as a publisher of books, audiobooks and podcasts. That is why a request has been submitted to the Central Works Council (COR) to sell the magazines and Uitgeverij Zwijsen.
Wiet de Bruijn, managing director of WPG Uitgevers (ad interim) says about this in a press statement on wpg.nl: “To give each WPG component the attention and investment space it deserves, we need to focus. We have chosen to focus on book publishers. This allows us to give even more attention to our writers, readers and listeners.”
The sales process of WPG Media started at the end of last year and is expected to be completed next summer. A buyer is being sought for the magazine brands Psychologie Magazine and Happinez. Vrij Nederland is currently investigating an independent future outside WPG.
