Cyclist Wout Poels from Blitterswijck finished fifteenth in the general classification of the stage race Paris-Nice.
Primoz Roglic did not relinquish his lead in the standings and took the overall victory. The last stage to Nice was won by Simon Yates. The Brit was second in the final standings.
Jack Haig
Poels crossed the finish line in ninth in the last stage. He drives in the French stage race as a helper of the Australian Jack Haig, the leader of Bahrain-Victorious. Partly thanks to the efforts of Poels, Haig finished sixth in the general classification.
roglic
Jumbo-Visma sports director Frans Maassen from Haelen had nothing to complain about in Nice. Roglic took the leader’s jersey on Thursday and solidified first position on Saturday by winning the penultimate stage. Thanks to good work by Jumbo-Visma teammate Wout van Aert, the 32-year-old Slovenian managed to repel an attack by competitor Simon Yates in the final stage. Roglic defended a 47 second lead over Simon Yates on Sunday. In the end, he was left with 29.
Teunissen
Mike Teunissen didn’t make it to the finish. The rider from Ysselsteyn decided on Saturday shortly after the start of the stage to “don’t force anything with a view to the classics.”
