Wounded drama Alblasserdam from hospital, suspect brought before Thursday NOW

The two people who were injured in the shooting in Alblasserdam earlier this month have been released from hospital, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) reported Monday. The suspect will be brought before the court on Thursday.

The Public Prosecution Service does not want to make any further announcements. The investigation into the suspect is still ongoing. This 38-year-old man has since confessed.

On Friday, May 6, he shot and killed two people at the Tro Tardi care farm in Alblasserdam. A 34-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl were killed and two people were seriously injured. The man from neighboring village Oud-Alblas is also suspected of shooting a shopkeeper in Vlissingen two days earlier.

Mayor Wouter Kolff of Dordrecht and Mayor Jaap Paans of Alblasserdam tweeted on Monday afternoon about the farewell of the girl from Dordrecht who died as a result of the shooting incident. “This afternoon, in the presence of many on the edge of Nieuwe Biesbosch, said goodbye to ‘a primal daughter of Mother Nature'”, reports Paans.

He refers to her as “a horse girl pur sang. May this farewell also be of strength to her loved ones.” Kolff says about the ceremony: “An emotional, but also beautiful tribute to this sweet horse girl. We deeply sympathize with her parents, brother and other loved ones.”

Young people in Alblasserdam reflected on the events on Sunday evening, with a meeting where Mayor Paans was also present.
