This ranking presents the 20 countries with the most expensive average rents worldwide. A data analysis from Numbeo serves as the source; the ranking status is June 2023.

Where is rented accommodation most expensive? This ranking presents the 20 countries with the most expensive average rents worldwide. For this purpose, the rental prices in New York City were set as a guide (index value: 100.00). So if a country has an index value of 50.00, rents there are exactly half as expensive as in New York City. Numbeo was used as the source; the ranking is as of June 2023.

20th place: New Zealand
With a rent index of 31.9, New Zealand is in last place in the ranking of countries with the most expensive average rents in the world. This is a significant improvement for tenants: ten years ago the index value was 46.1 points and New Zealand was in ninth place in the ranking.

With a rental index of 33.3 points, Nigeria is in 19th place in the ranking. Ten years ago, Nigeria achieved a rating of 17.9 and 61st place in the ranking.
