World Superbikes draws 32,000 spectators

MOTORSPORT – The World Superbike Championships at the TT Circuit of Assen attracted 32,000 visitors this weekend. The vast majority of these came today, more than 20,000.

They did not see a Dutch success like yesterday, with Victor Steeman and Glenn van Straalen in the World Supersport 300 and the World Championship Supersport respectively, but a great closing race by Michael van der Mark in the World Superbikes. Van der Mark was very satisfied after his first race weekend of the season. “I was actually already on Friday when I got the green light to race again, but after three races that good feeling has become even better. In fact, I have never been so happy with a 13th and 8th place,” said the Rotterdammer. , who stumbled towards his pit box to loud applause. “It was wonderful that so many people were there. They missed this enormously here in Assen, but also myself.”

Van der Mark took eleven points with 13th and 8th place, which means that he is now 15th in the general classification.
