Tragedy in the mountains. Ski mountaineering world champion Adèle Milloz († 26) is dead.

The French athlete was found dead on Mont Blanc with another person over the weekend.

Mountaineers found the two people and immediately called the police – the area was searched for other victims with a helicopter.

It is still unclear how the tragedy came about. The accident happened on the Chamonix side of the mountain – actually a classic route for mountaineers.

An official told the Daily Mail: “The high mountains have become even more dangerous due to the drought. But access was not explicitly forbidden.”

Especially sad: Adèle Milloz was very familiar with the Alps. She grew up in the mountains. Five years ago, the ski mountaineer won gold in the individual and team sprints at the Winter Military Games in Sochi. In 2019 she ended her professional career and started training as a high mountain guide in Chamonix.

The chairman of the mountain guides of Chamonix, Olivier Greber, deeply saddened by the victim: “Adèle was a radiant young woman”.
