World Sailing Championships: Emma Plasschaert is in the lead

Three more regattas are scheduled before the world title is awarded. A country place for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will be awarded to the top 16 countries in this category.

The Ostend sailed to a 15th and a second place in the seventh and eighth regatta on Thursday. The 2018 and 2021 world champion passed Maria Erdi, 22nd and sixth Thursday, with 42 points. The Hungarian counts one point more. The Swiss Maud Jayet is third (49 pts), ahead of the Swedish Josefin Olsson (53 pts). The Danish reigning world champion Anne-Marie Rindom follows in fifth place (58 pts). Eline Verstraeten, Thursday 37th, sixth and eighth in the Silver Fleet, is 70th with 154 points.

Two more regattas will follow on Friday. The medal race is scheduled for Saturday.
