The Stockholm Diamond League saw a tough race of spears on Thursday.
The top five men in this season’s world stats were in place, with Grenada taking the win Anderson Peters, whose best bore 90.31. Peters broke Andreas Thorkildsen a race record of 89.78 in 2006.
Peters threw over 93-meter in Doha in May to hold the top spot in world statistics.
Second place went to India Neeraj Choprawho threw for the first time 89.94.
German Julian Weber he, too, hurried the 90-meter line. The German raised his hands in the air after the fifth throw. However, the measure accumulated “only” 89.08 and the result was third place.
Peters, Chopra and Weber decided the winner of the race in the final round of three throwers. It had the same order as after five rounds.
In Turku in mid-June, 89.83 threw Oliver Helander left the game in Stockholm after three throws. Helander rolled for 85.46 in the first place, which was enough for the fifth.
Helander’s second and third throws were overdone. The second throw carried around 80 meters, but the third was clearly shorter than the first two.
Helander represents Finland at the Eugene World Championships, but the endurance, condition and evenness of the man’s body is still a great mystery. Earlier in June, Helander skipped the Oulu ranking competition and the Kuortane race.
