Gina Lückenkemper sprints to the next title with a large lead, Yannick Wolf is unstoppable in the men’s category. He sees a surprising World Cup chance.
After the successful defense of the title, the double European champion looked Gina Lückenkemper only too happy to go to the World Cup. “We’re on a trip, but the peak of the season isn’t until August. I feel that there is something decent in the pipeline,” said the 26-year-old after her victory over 100 meters at the German Championships in Kassel.
The World Championships will take place in Budapest from August 19th to 27th.
After third place in the World Championships with the relay and two golds alone and with the quartet at the European Championships in Munich last year, Germany’s sportswoman of the year is aiming for new top times. “I would have liked to have run a bit faster,” she said after 11.03 seconds in the final in Kassel. But after a long day, that was okay. But she will have to improve for the targeted World Cup final.

In the past year, Lückenkemper celebrated twice with the season, which is struggling with difficulties this year. Lisa Mayer is injured for the German and World Championships, Alexandra Burghardt struggled with back problems and Rebekka Haase had problems for a long time.
“She has things under control again. She was able to do three races, all of which were good and all pain-free,” reported Lückenkemper. “I think we’ll manage somehow, that we can put together a reasonable season.”
