I’ve stopped planning everything too early as a national coach because of course you always have to react to injuries and should also react if something happens. We’ve been playing without Kai Havertz for a year, without Jamal for six months, and without Antonio and Marc for ages. There are many players who can also play a key role who are not there. Of course, you always have an ideal idea in your head of what a 26-man squad can look like. But if I commit to it now and articulate it and then four games are canceled again, then the world collapses again. That’s why we have to stay a little variable in our heads. Of course, I think we already have a pool of players over the last two years who are all eligible. Maybe one or the other will slip in a new one. We also saw two debutants today who did well. And in the end I can definitely promise that we will select the team to the best of our knowledge and belief so that we have a powerful team.
