Snowboarder Ramona Hofmeister celebrated her first World Cup victory this winter.
The 26-year-old from WSV Bischofswiesen won the parallel giant slalom in Blue Mountain, Canada. It was her 15th career World Cup win and her third individual podium of the season. After failing in the quarterfinals of the first edition on Thursday, the 26-year-old made it to the top of the podium on Friday. In the final, Hofmeister defeated Julie Zogg from Switzerland, third was Daniela Ulbing from Austria.
“I’m incredibly happy and relieved right now. This win was so important,” said Hofmeister after the race: “Fifth place yesterday, that was ok. But I wanted more. Today we’re still celebrating.”
Loch fails in the quarterfinals
For the other German snowboarders, on the other hand, it was over early again. Cheyenne Loch (Schliersee) failed in the quarterfinals, Melanie Hochreiter and Carolin Langenhorst (both Bischofswiesen) did not make it past the round of 16.
Kwiatkowski wins the men’s
Pole Oskar Kwiatkowski triumphed in the men’s category. For the only German starter, Stefan Baumeister, also already in the round of the top eight final stop.
