French football player Just Fontaine, who held the record for most goals in a tournament in World Cup history by scoring 13 goals at the 1958 FIFA World Cup held in Sweden, has died at the age of 89. Fontaine’s former team, Reims, announced on his social media account that the former star football player passed away.

The record that Just Fontaine achieved in 1958 has still not been broken. Having scored 13 goals in 6 matches in the said organization, Fontaine is still the top scorer in a single World Cup.
In the semi-finals of the 1958 World Cup, France left the tournament after losing 5-2 to Brazil, where 17-year-old Pele played.
