The ski jumpers were actually supposed to go hunting in Rasnov in just over a week. But the weather conditions don’t allow that.
The women’s ski jumping World Cup in Rasnov, Romania has been canceled due to a lack of snow. As the World Ski Association FIS announced, the two competitions planned for the coming weekend (February 16th to 18th) as well as two qualification jumps cannot take place due to “unfavorable snow conditions”.
There are currently double-digit temperatures in Romania. In addition to the already little snow, this also means that hardly any artificial snow can be produced. In addition, the weather forecasts are unfavorable and make it impossible to hold the event. In Zao, Japan, one of two individual competitions had to be canceled due to weather in January. It is still unclear whether there will be a catch-up jump.
In 2016, the ski jumping season finale in Rasnov could not take place due to a lack of snow and high temperatures. Due to the cancellation, the ski jumpers now have to take a break until the end of February. A World Cup is scheduled to take place in Hinzenbach in Austria on February 24th and 25th.
