The Biathlon World Championships are history, now it’s back to everyday life in the World Cup. The final points will be awarded in Norway (Oslo), the USA (Soldier Hollow) and Canada (Canmore) in the coming weeks before the small and large crystal balls are presented.
For men, the big crystal ball of the overall World Cup winner in the 2023/24 season will certainly go to a Norwegian. Last year’s winner Johannes Thingnes Bö ranks ahead of the World Cup in Oslo with 806 points ahead of his compatriot Johannes Dale-Skjevdal (714), third is his older brother Tarjei Bö (708). The first non-Norwegian is the Swede Martin Ponsiluoma (476 points) in seventh place, closely followed by DSV ski hunter Benedikt Doll (465).
The last competitions will certainly be very special for Doll: The 33-year-old will hang up his skis at the end of the season. He recently said goodbye to the big stage of the World Championships with a bronze medal in the individual in Nove Mesto.
Among the women, the French dominated the last World Cup. Julia Simon won three golds and one bronze, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet even won three golds and one silver and one bronze. Both still have hopes of victory in the overall World Cup, Simon (662 points) is in fourth place, Braisaz-Bouchet (689) is second behind the Norwegian Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold (719). And there is also Lisa Vittozzi from Italy, who is third (671) and wants to have a say.

Rain and especially fog at the legendary Holmenkollen in Oslo led to the cancellation of the women’s individual 15 km race on Thursday.
