The best German cross-country skier Friedrich Moch missed the start of the season in Kuusamo, Finland. That’s why veteran Lucas Bögl is there.
The 23-year-old Moch, who won bronze in the relay at the World Championships last winter and took eighth place in the Tour de Ski, had to cancel his trip to the Arctic Circle at short notice due to illness.
On the other hand, veteran Lucas Bögl is there despite a baby break in preparation. “My preparation for the season was torpedoed by a fortunate circumstance: I left Muonio at short notice because my boy was born. Everyone is doing well and he brings us a lot of joy.”said the 33-year-old, who says he is missing 350 to 400 kilometers of training on snow.
Hennig leads German women
The German women’s team is led by team sprint Olympic champion Katharina Hennig, who celebrated her first World Cup victory last winter. “I want to enjoy my first World Cup in Kuusamo, although I would of course be happy about a top placement and have high expectations of myself.”said the 27-year-old. –
