Lena Dürr seems to be able to transfer her form from the old year into the new one. The athlete from SV Germering took second place in the slalom in Kranjska Gora.
Only Petra Vlhova (1:47.62 min), who celebrated her third win of the season, was better. Third place went to the American AJ Hurt, who gained 13 places in the second round and surprisingly made it onto the podium (+0.87s). Her compatriot Mikaela Shiffrin missed the final.
Fourth Podium placement of the season for Dürr
Dürr, who went into the final as second at the same time as Croatian Leona Popovic, was almost two seconds ahead in her run. A major mistake in the middle part of the difficult course cost valuable time and ensured that Vlhova was still able to overtake. In the end, Dürr had to admit defeat by 72 hundredths, but celebrated his fourth podium finish of the winter.
“It was wild. I tried to stay on track. The finish slope was pretty wild. But as soon as it lights up green at the bottom, it doesn’t matter.”the athlete from SV Germering was simply relieved in the ARD interview. “It’s fun, I hope it continues like this. I try not to think too much. Then we’ll see what happens”, commented Dürr on her second place. She also came second in Levi and most recently in Lienz. In the second Levi race he finished third.
Aicher slips away – Hilzinger with him Best performance of the season
For the first time this season, three Germans qualified for the second round. For Jessica Hilzinger this meant a best performance of the season. The 30-year-old came 20th among the top 20 drivers. Emma Aicher was promising in the second run, but slipped away after the second intermediate time and was eliminated.
Shiffrin is eliminated
Mikaela Shiffrin caused the biggest surprise. The exceptional American driver took over in the first round and was eliminated. Shiffrin entered the race suffering from a cold. After the first time measurement, their journey was already over.
