Laura Nolte got back on the road to success one day after her second place in the monobob. She was unbeatable in the two-man bobsleigh on the difficult track in Innsbruck-Igls.
This shape is impressive. Laura Nolte steered her bobsleigh through the ice track in the first two World Cups more confidently and error-free than anyone else. On the converted track in Austria, the Frankfurt native celebrated her third win of the season in the fourth race on Sunday (November 30th) together with pusher Deborah Levi.
After finishing second in the single sled, Nolte was once again at the top a day later. After the first run, the 27-year-old led by an incredible 0.27 seconds. The second round was basically child’s play. Nolte achieved her third World Cup victory with ease and ultimately won by 0.41 seconds ahead of Kaysha Love from the USA. The American pushed Kim Kalicki from second to third place.
Lisa Buckwitz – third after the first run – bowled from the winner’s podium. After a faulty second run, she had to settle for fifth place.
Nolte’s form scares his dad
At the start of the winter on the new track in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Nolte triumphed in both the monobob and the two-man bob. So much dominance scares him, even Papa Nolte admitted in an interview with Sportschau. Much to the amusement of daughter Nolte: “It gives us confidence looking ahead to the Olympics”said the athlete. A lot could still happen before the games start in February,”But we’re going home with a good feeling and good start times“.
If Nolte can maintain this form, she will be the top favorite at the Olympic Games. In Beijing 2022 she won gold in the two-man bobsleigh, but came away empty-handed in the monobob. That should change in February. The chances are good…
