Archer Mike Schloesser from Nuth has won gold in the compound section at the World Cup competitions in Antalya.
The Limburger was too strong for the Frenchman Adrien Gontier in the final.
Flawless
In the semifinals, Schloesser also met a French opponent with Jean Philippe Boulch. In that semi-final, Schloesser managed to make a hole in the second end. While Schloesser managed to hit the center of the board three times, Boulch came to 29 points. The same happened in the third end. In the fourth round, Schloesser made the first mistake, which brought Boulch back to one point behind. In the fifth end, Schloesser was again clear to take the win: 149-147.
Strong start
In the final against Gontier, Schloesser again had a strong start. After the second end, the Limburger already had a three-point lead. Schloesser didn’t give that lead away anymore and he expanded the difference even further to a gap of five points. He finished the game with three tens: 148-142.
bronze
On Wednesday, Schloesser already won bronze in the team part. De Limburger, together with Sil Pater and Stef Willems, defeated the team from Great Britain 233-232. There was also a medal for Steve Wijler from Horn. The archer won the bronze medal in the recurve part with Rick van der Ven and Gijs Broeksma.
