Tomorrow 2 March the world championship in Scotland comes to life. Spotlight on the final of the long course where Mattia is a candidate for the podium
At the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow it is the day of the golden boy Mattia Furlani, 19 years old, sure protagonist in the long jump final scheduled for 11am. The Rieti native, only two races in 2024, with 8.34 achieved on 17 February at the Absolutes in Ancona leads the seasonal world list ex aequo with the Jamaican Pinnock, absent in Scotland. The opponent to beat is the Greek all-time champion Tentoglou (8.26). A few centimeters behind are the Jamaican McLeod (8.20) and the Americans Williams and Lawson.

In addition to Furlani, there are 9 other Italians competing on the second day. First Lorenzo Simonelli, fresh from setting the Italian record in the 60 hurdles, awaiting, we hope, two rounds and the final at 10.30pm. Debut and possible three rounds also for Zaynab Dosso in the women’s 60m, ready to improve the record of 7″02 achieved in Torun, Poland. Then, the eight hundred meters Tecuceanu and Coiro return for the men’s and women’s semi-finals. The second evening, however , will open with the final of the women’s auction and our Roberta Bruni. In the other medal challenges it’s up to Emmanuel Ihemeje in the triple, Pietro Arese, Federico Riva and Ludovica Cavalli in the 3000.
