World Championships in Athletics: European high jump champion Przybylko in the final

European champion Mateusz Przybylko has reached the high jump final at the track and field world championships in Eugene, USA.

The 30-year-old made it into the medal fight with 2.25 meters as twelfth and last. On the other hand, Tobias Potye dropped out in the qualification with 2.21 meters.

“I’m so happy! I’ve got a lot more on it, I don’t know what happened at 2.28 meters either,” Przybylko commented on his narrow progress and failure at 2.28 meters.

He just didn’t have his “blinkers”, looked left and right and was very restless. “I definitely have a pound on it,” he said. “But there’s still more to come in the final. Definitely.”

The two Olympic champions from Tokyo, Mutaz Essa Barshim from Qatar and Gianmarco Tamberi from Italy, each jumped 2.28 meters. The men’s final will be held on Monday (2:45 a.m. CEST) at Hayward Field Stadium.
