Since leaving FC Bayern, Miroslav Klose has been without a job. That will now change for the coming season. The world champion hires as a coach in Austria.
Miroslav Klose becomes the new coach at the Austrian first division club SCR Altach. The club announced this on Friday afternoon. The TV station “Sport1” reported first. Accordingly, the 2014 world champion will succeed ex-Bundesliga player Ludovic Magnin, who is moving to FC Lausanne.
According to the club, long-time Bayern striker Klose will sign his contract on Sunday and be officially presented on Monday.
“I’m really looking forward to my new job here,” said Klose. “It was just that positive feeling right from the start that I have to have, that I’m in the right place here.” The first talks with those responsible were “so open” that “it was clear to me that I wanted to do that. Now I can hardly wait to get to know the team, the people in the club and of course the fans.”
Klose’s commitment triggered great euphoria at the club. After the announcement, the club’s website was overloaded and unavailable.
After the end of his career in 2016, the 44-year-old trained as a coach and became part of the coaching staff of the German national team. In 2018 he took over the B youth of FC Bayern. For the 2020/21 season, he moved up to Hansi Flick’s coaching staff for a year in the record champions’ first team. The World Cup record scorer is now taking on his first head coaching position in professional football in Altach.
