Worker dies after falling into septic tank
The man was cleaning a septic tank with a colleague. He became intoxicated by the gases, lost consciousness and fell into the well. His colleague tried to get him out of the well, but he too became intoxicated by the released gases. The fire service managed to pull the first victim out of the pit and resuscitate him. He was transferred to AZ Delta in critical condition. A week and a half after the accident, the man succumbed to his injuries.
The Welfare at Work Inspectorate is now conducting an investigation to find out whether the employer made a risk analysis in advance and whether there were sufficient preventive measures.
