Rijkswaterstaat is warning road users this weekend of disruption and long detour times on the A2 and A27 highways. The asphalt needs to be worked on on both highways. This results in additional travel time that can amount to more than an hour.
The asphalt on the Merwedebrug between Gorinchem and Sleeuwijk (A27) needs urgent repairs. That is why the highway towards Breda between the Gorinchem junction and the Hooipolder junction will be closed from 9:00 PM on Saturday evening until 5:00 AM on Monday morning.
Due to the emergency job on the Merwedebrug, asphalt paving work on the A2 between the Deil and Empel junction had to be brought forward by a day. That highway section is now closed in the direction of Den Bosch from 9 p.m. on Friday evening until 5 a.m. on Sunday morning. That road was actually not supposed to close until Saturday.
Both main routes to the south, the A2 and the A27, will be closed from Saturday evening to Sunday morning. Traffic from Utrecht to the south in particular suffers from this and must make use of it diversion routes. It will be busier there than normal.
