Work at Zoetermeer Oost station: this means for Zoetermeer residents

Work has been going on for months on the pedestrian and cyclist tunnel at Zoetermeer Oost train station. Next week it’s the turn of the top of the tunnel. In combination with work on the track, Zoetermeer residents must take detours and delays into account.

Due to planned work on the track, the level crossing from the Zuidweg to the Paltelaan and Eerste Stationsstraat will be closed. Pedestrians, cyclists, train passengers and motorists will have to deal with extra travel time from Monday 17 to Friday 21 July.

For pedestrians and cyclists

Due to the work on the tunnel, we have been dealing with diversions since May. From Monday 17 July, pedestrians, cyclists and other traffic will be diverted via the existing alternative routes. This means that you can only cross via the Rokkeveenseweg Zuid, the Nelson Mandela Bridge and the Balij Bridge. Crossing the Zuidweg via the railway crossings is also not possible, because they are also closed.

For train travelers

In order to work safely on the track, the power is cut off from the overhead lines and no train traffic is possible between Gouda and Ypenburg. From 17 to 21 July, the NS will deploy buses from Lansingerland-Zoetermeer, Zoetermeer East and Zoetermeer train stations. Check in advance trip planner for the correct departure times. Please allow 30 minutes extra travel time.

For motorists

From Monday 17 to Friday 21 July, from 07:00 to 16:00, the railway crossing from Rokkeveen in the direction of Het Dorp will be closed. Traffic is diverted. Conversely, the road under the A12 will remain open to traffic. The level crossing is open in both directions from 4:00 PM to 7:00 AM. You don’t have to worry about the barriers closing, because no trains are running then.
