origins

Founded in Pennsylvania in 1830 by John Rich, Woolrich is America’s oldest outdoor clothing brand. Initially, Woolrich began making woolen clothing to protect workers in freezing temperatures. Then the brand pursued the goal of offering the best outdoor clothing for all consumers because Woolrich believes in the pursuit of adventure, freedom and true purpose.

Words like ‘thoughtful’, ‘enduring’ and ‘unadulterated’ describe the brand’s ethos, which combines durability, sensitivity and style in its clothing.

Woolrich’s wool clothing has proved extremely useful in some historic moments in world history. The brand has over the years provided US soldiers with blankets, coats and socks that kept them comfortable and warm.

In the 1970’s, the original Woolrich Arctic Parka jacket was designed for workers on the Alaska Pipeline who were working in freezing temperatures. In recent years, Woolrich has incorporated new ecological and sustainable materials and technologies to bring the iconic parka up to date.

Today, the Woolrich collections are sold in Europe, Middle East & Africa, North America and Asia Pacific through a global network of 32 stores and online. In addition, the brand includes another label called Woolrich Outdoor, which was developed by the Japanese brand Goldwin.

The Woolrich Outdoor label offers indoor and outdoor clothing designed for a new, hybrid lifestyle, combining light and innovative materials for relaxing at home with soft and warm fabrics, perfect for warming up while hiking keep.
