The famous American director believes that Hermoso “wasn’t in danger because the kiss took place in a public place”
The Rubiales case continues to arouse controversy. Most public figures condemned Rubiales’ attitude and considered very serious the kiss given by the suspended president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to the player of the Spanish women’s soccer team Jennifer Hermoso, during the presentation of the World Cup medals.
There are few voices defending Rubiales
One of them is director Woody Allen , according to whom “it’s hard to think that someone could lose their job because of a kiss.”
In an interview with El Mundo, Allen also admits that Rubiales “was wrong” and that it is right that he had to apologize, while adding that Hermoso “wasn’t in danger because the kiss took place in a public place”. “The two should move on and move on. It’s not like Rubiales burned down a school or killed someone,” said the director, who has been surrounded by controversy in recent years. Among these, the allegations of sexual abuse against the daughter of his ex-partner, Mia Farrow.
The majority of citizens do not share Allen’s opinion
This is what emerges from a poll published this Monday by El País, in which it emerges that 72% of Spaniards condemn the behavior of Luis Rubiales and define it as “unacceptable”. The Administrative Court of Sport (TAD) has opened a case against Rubiales for an infringement it described as “serious”. But in doing so, the Superior Sports Council (CSD), which depends on the government, cannot unilaterally disqualify Rubiales, since it needed the body to qualify the matter as “very serious”. For this reason, the Government itself has presented a precautionary measure with the objective that it is the TAD itself that excludes Rubiales from his duties. Meanwhile, the president of the RFEF continues to be suspended by FIFA for 90 days.
