CHIERI-FLORENCE 0-3 (20-25, 23-25, 19-25)

The match between Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76 and Il Bisonte Firenze begins with a stumble for the home team on the eleventh return match. Chieri, on the pitch with turnover, struggled to get going, leaving ample space for a Florence team that has long been looking for satisfaction to boost morale and the standings. Coach Bregoli’s girls attempt to come back, but are subjected to the high level of service from their opponents (Ishikawa above all), which allows them to put just enough in their pockets to take home the first set. Mindful of the previous episode that just took place, Chieri immediately starts the second set aggressively, but a head-to-head game ensues in which both teams try to extend their lead. A series of errors in service and in reception by the blue and whites makes the guests advance quietly, but Chieri does not give up and, with an unprecedented sextet, reaches 23-23, then letting every effort fade away, making the set slip into the hands opponents. Chieri then tries to turn the page with the third set, but Florence fights tooth and nail. Too many shadows for the hosts, who were looking for a victory to secure fifth place in the standings and guarantee participation in a European cup for the third year in a row with two days to spare. The ruthless time continues to be on the guests’ side and there is no way to stop it. The game is over: the match is Florentine. (Elisabetta Testa)

MILAN-CUNEO 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-20)

Milan returns to full success, defeating Cuneo 3-0 in 88 minutes. The victory that was needed for Allianz, for morale also in view of the Champions League semi-final (Tuesday against Fenerbahce at the Allianz Cloud): some ups and downs were still seen, especially in the second set, even if the local teams found a way to respond appropriately in times of difficulty. MVP is Orro, excellent for management and dedication, while Egonu is top scorer with 21 points (5 blocks). For Honda Olivero S.Bernardo, a match with few errors, but a lot of effort in attack, apart from Enweonwu (15 points), driving force in the first set, Gaspari starts with Orro-Egonu diagonally, Cazaute-Sylla spikers, Rettke-Heyrman at the center, Castillo libero. Micoli relies on Signorile as director opposite Enweonwu, Haak and Stigrot in the squad, Sylves and Hall in the center with Scognamillo as libero. Enweonwu against everyone in the first set. The opposing host takes the host attack on his shoulders, scoring 8 points, but it is Milan who immediately extends the lead (11-6) with Orro good at management and determination, but a little imprecise. Cuneo defends, but does not attack (3/17 apart from Enweonwu), while Egonu plays with precision. The guests reduce the score to 17-15, Allianz responds with a 3-0 with two points from Sylla and escapes to 25-19, with the entrances of Molinaro (who will be confirmed in the next set for Hall) and Tanase who do not move. The Lombard team lose precision at the start of the second half, and Cuneo takes advantage of it, trailing 6-12 with Haak. However, an absentee enters the scene, the Allianz block: Gaspari’s team scores 6 in the half, favoring the breaks (5-0 for 11-12 and 3-0 for 19-17 which is worth the first overtaking) which are decisive. When Enweonwu returns to make himself heard it is too late and Milan closes 25-23. The third set opens with a 7-2 for the locals signed by Rettke. Micoli struggles to find the square of the four places, Milano also lets Bajema and Candi enter further up front. Cuneo, however, recovers (10-9) with the best moment of Stigrot and the block, but from 12-11 Cazaute and Candi (3 points with 2 blocks) score the 5-0 which opens the way to full success, arriving at 25-20 . VALLEFOGLIA-CONEGLIANO 1-3 (25-22, 17-25, 22-25, 13 -25)

Megabox tries to hinder the winning path of Prosecco DOC, but the Venetian potential emerges from the second set, after a determined start from the hosts. The green-and-white tigers attacked right from the start, also making De Genaro’s reception difficult, so much so that Saltarelli was the first to stop the game at 9-4. Every action is played to the maximum, the service is the most risky fundamental, Haak closes an ace for 12-8, and Pistola stops the game at 12-9: the Venetians recover and take the lead at 13-11. Lanier closes for 16-15 and a block by Haak brings the game to a draw, 16-16. The hosts are not willing and a super Degradi ends two consecutive attacks for 21-18 as Santarelli stops the game again. A double substitution in Conegliano does not block an attack by Aleksic and one by Mingardi which leads to 23-19, Aleksic serves for the set point 24-20, Squarcini cancels it, followed by Hawk and Pistola stops the game at 24-22 and Megabox closes the first set in his favor. Change of pitch with the guests who accelerate the game and start ahead, 0-3 and then 4-6; Dijkema tries to change the game, but the guests allow the green and whites little. Pistola calls time out at 5-9 to try to recover but the game is stopped again at 8-14. Director Bugg often calls Hawk, Dijkema responds with Degradi for 10-16; the guests take off and Pistola plays the double substitution card with Gardini – Panetoni for Degradi – Giovannini: the Venetian wall is insurmountable, but Mancini blocks Haak at 14-21. Lanier serves for the set point 15-24, Degradi cancels it after an interminable exchange; finally Haak closes the second set. Change of pitch with the home team ahead again, Degradi closes the score 5-3; Squarcini in the center doesn’t make Lubian regret it and at 5-8 Pistola stops the game and when Conegliano increases the gap he plays the substitution card: Cecconello, Gardini and Große Sharman in the fray. It is Santarelli who stops the game at 12-15, Große Shermann closes a block for 13-15, but at 15-18 the game is stopped again by the green and white coach. Cecconello closes for 16 -19 and Haak makes a mistake (17-19); an error on the block brings the guests to 17-21, a roar is heard after a block by Große Scharman – Aleksic for 21-22. DeKrujif serves for the first set point, 21-24, Haak slips but closes the third set. Fourth set with the guests starting stronger than ever, Degradi returns for Gardini at 0-6; Große Scharmann closes for 1-8, but Conegliano is relentless: Haak closes for 4-12. There is no story, the green and whites tried: Conegliano’s army leaves no escape. (M. Novella Ferri)
